Inventing a New Tool

Fishing out a cylinder from the bottom of the well

1.      First you notice that the well is not pumping any water, this usually happens when the weather is freezing.

2.      You pull the sucker rod and the pipe and you see that there is no cylinder attached to the last joint, it is so cold that your wet hands stick to the pipe.

3.      You then go back to the truck to get warm and use the cell phone to call your neighbor to ask if he has had any experience in fishing out cylinders.

4.      You then spend the rest of the day inventing a contraption with a cylinder cap that will attach to the end of a sucker rod.

5.      Next morning you go fishing; don’t forget that when you go fishing you need to take beer.

6.      Around noon you are getting frustrated and that is when Joan says you could attach something else to the end of the sucker rod.  You naturally resist because the contraption you invented is a thing of beauty.

7.      Around 3:00 you run out of beer and know that you have to go back to the house.

8.      When you leave the house Joan says “I am going to put this in the truck just in case.”

9.      You try your beautiful contraption until almost sunset.

10.  Joan says, “Why don’t you give this a try.”

11.  You attach the new tool to the end of the sucker rod and on the first try it goes into the cylinder and holds tight.

12.  You then pull up the sucker rod with the cylinder attached to it held on by a toilet brush.

13.  The sun goes down on another beautiful day.
