Regular Meeting

Members in attendance: Porky Jones, Max and Yolanda Tenorio, Bill and Joan Ortiz

Max Tenorio called the meeting to order. Minutes of the December20, 2007 meeting and highlights from the Trichomoniasis program held February 12, 2008 were read and approved.
Hay
Bill Ortiz led an open forum to dicuss Hay prices. He had price quotes from Caldron Farms of Colorado and Lopez Farms from Tucumcari.
Calf Sales:
Members discussed cattle sales in the area. Rick Flores suggested that ranchers consider pooling together to take calves to livestock sales as a way of offsetting the high cost of fuel
Bovine Tuberculosis-
Jones, Guadalupe County Livestock Inspector was on hand to distribute literature on Bovine Tuberculosis and answer questions on transporting and selling of cattle. For more information visit the NM Livestock Board website.
Vet Kits:
Mr. Gino Lujan, Guadalupe County Extension Agent arranged to have Vet Kits available for GCLPO members. The vet kits contain emergency vet supplies valued at about $175.00. Members present at the meeting received their bags. Max and Yolanda will contact other members and deliver their bags. A letter thanking Gino was signed by
all present. Letter will be mailed by Yolanda Tenorio.
