· Feral Hog and Grey Wolf:
Mr. Gino Lujan and Max Tenorio reported on the information Collin Alcott, Attorney for Guad. County presented to the commissioners. Gino stated that it is “more than a concern.” Gino advised all members to write individual letters to the commissioners. GCLPO needs to recommend to the Guadalupe County Commissioners that they establish an ordinance for Guadalupe County. Tom Sidwell reported on the Feral Hog status at the NM Legislature. Local agencies need to establish local ordinances.
· Pintada Watershed by Don Thompson
Committee met with Norman Vigil, Asst. State Conservationist/Program and George Chavez State Resource Conservationist at the NRCS Office. The newly formed committee is in the process of establishing bylaws, rules and regulations. Don reported the watershed expands through Torrance, Guadalupe, Santa Fe and some of San Miguel County. He thanked Gino Lujan for his assistance. Phillip Herrerra, District conservationist attended the meeting held on April 14, 2009. He offered his technical help and support. Jim Thorpe informed the group the new farm bill will have an impact on conservation for watersheds. There will be new programs and funds available. Don encourages all ranchers to have wells registered with the NM State Water Engineer.

Tom Dominguez, Quay County Extension Agent
Tom Dominguez provided an interesting and informative PowerPoint presentation on the Grey Wolf Recovery Program. He was assisted in his presentation by Tom Sidwell, an area rancher. They advised GCLPO about the importance of establishing a Guadalupe County ordinance to address the issue. Literature and other valuable resources were shared with members present.
