Meeting called to order by Max Tenorio.
Treasurer reported a balance of $834.00 in the checking account.
Meeting started out with an open forum.
· Kenneth McKenzie shared information on source and age verification. He stated it would make it easier to sell calves in the fall. He shared information on the program he is using. Discussion followed. Gino Lujan suggested contacting the NMSU Vet, Dr. Wenzel for a presentation on this type of program.

· Gino Lujan suggested that GCLPO contact Robbie Larranaga with US Fish and Wildlife in Las Vegas, New Mexico to address the Wolf Recovery Program. Bill Ortiz reported he had lost a calf to a lion in his Newkirk ranch.

Treasurer’s report.
Joan, Jerry and Gino volunteered to do a treasurer’s audit for GCLPO. Yolanda will contact them to get it done in July 2009.

Bill Ortiz demonstrated how easy it is to navigate on the GCLPO website. Joan has added useful information and resources for all to use.

Pintada
Watershed
Max Tenorio reported on behalf of Don Thompson. He stated that EQUIP can assist
landowners. The important thing is to create awareness. Encouraging ranchers to clean out brush and juniper is very important. Gino stated that it is possible to acquire additional funds through the programs that are available. The Pintanda Watershed Field Day is scheduled for July 25, 2009, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. at the Thompson Ranch in Pintada. PWCC membership dues are $20.00.
New Business
Hay Prices
Max reported that Caldon Farms from Colorado would sell hay for $130.00/ton delivered. Each load is approx. 20 tons. Manuel Lopez from Tucumcari is selling for $100/ton (no delivery)
NAP Insurance
Bill Ortiz reported that Guadalupe County qualified for 6% loss for 2008. He stated that the FSA committee appealed and reflected a 60% loss. Information was sent to the NRCS, BLM and State Land Office. He emphasized that landowners can help themselves by sending in rainfall data to the NRCS office. Bill provided a copy of the data he has compiled for his ranch. NRCS office provide rain gauges, the only requirement is to send them your “rainfall records”.
Calf Sales for 2009
Max will contact Mike Wolf-Canutillo Mgt. Kenneth McKenzie suggested a July contract would be a great idea. He encourage all producers to have “source and age verification”
