Special Meeting August 26, 2009

Don Thompson started meeting, combined PWCC and GCLPO.  Jerry Trujillo, State Water Engineers office will be the guest speaker on water situation.  Minutes of the 6/2/09 meeting and the PWCC field day on 7/’25/09 and Treasures report as of 8/26/09. 

 

Minutes approved, motion by Manuel Apodaca, seconded by Max Tenorio.  Max was introduced and gave a brief description of GCLPO mentioning the benefits of joining PWCC or GCLPO.

 

Max and Don reported on a local workers group that is organized by NRCS for the purpose of meeting on how to utilize monies ($260,000 est.) for Guadalupe County.  PWCC stands to gain monies for water conservation.  There was a discussion regarding monies that are matched dollar per dollar with other watershed organizations.  Gino Lujan stated his concerns that monies may be reduced over the next few years.

 

Jerri Trujillo had a lot of valuable information for the producers.  She shared information on the value of declaring wells. She encouraged members to search for wells on website. All information is available for review.  A discussion on adjudicated wells followed. The Office of the State Engineers Office has forms and all information necessary to complete applications etc.  Forms were left with Yolanda Tenorio for producers that are interested in getting the necessary paperwork done.

 

Bill Ortiz developed a Calf Worksheet for the purpose of determining what producers wanted pool and sell calves.  Each producer took home a worksheet to complete.  Interested producers needed to contact Max or Bill. 

 

Martin Honneger presented information on Mark Whitten’s pre-conditioning program. Jim Thorpe suggested that a few members get together and visit his operation.
